Pam Singh selected as Kern County Public Defender

Bakersfield Californian May 23, 2017

The Board of Supervisors announced Tuesday it has appointed Pam Singh
as the county's next public defender.

Singh replaces Konrad Moore, who is retiring after 17 years of
service and who has served as public defender since 2013. She takes
office June 5.

Singh has worked as a deputy public defender since 2004, representing
thousands of clients in cases ranging from misdemeanors to homicides,
said a news release from the Kern County Administrative Office.

Additionally, Singh has performed multiple administrative and
managerial tasks, including the assignment of cases, making staffing
decisions and training attorneys, the release said. Before working
for the County of Kern, she was an attorney for a private law firm
and was a law clerk for the Federal Public Defender's Office.

"Pam Singh has an exceptional background and experience needed to
provide high quality legal representation to Kern County residents
while respecting their tax dollars," Board Chairman Zack Srivner said
in the release. "We know the department will continue its high
quality and efficient work."

Singh earned a bachelor of arts degree at California State
University, Pomona, and a master of arts and juris doctor degree from
the University of California, Los Angeles.
