Dear IST Stakeholders:
 
The Department of State Hospitals is actively working to plan and prepare for COVID-19 (coronavirus) across our hospital system following guidance from the California Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other state and local partners. To ensure that patients with mental health disorders currently in DSH�s care continue to receive the services and support that they need without the possible disruptions caused by COVID-19, and to protect the health, safety and welfare of those patients, the Department has suspended the admission and discharge of all Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) patients committed under Penal code 1370 et seq. for 30 days, beginning March 25, 2020. The suspension will be evaluated at the end of the period.
